Samuel Anoints David Story
1 Samuel 16:1-13
Royal Anointing – horn & oil – Let me tell you a story about how the prophet Samuel found Israel’s King David. God sent Samuel to find and bless King Saul’s successor.
Pure Heart – heart & crown – God rejected Saul as king of Israel because of his rebellious heart. He sent Samuel to find a new king with a passion for loving and obeying God.
Faithful Shepherd – shepherd, flame, sheep – Samuel thought he knew the next king on sight, but he was wrong. God saw young David’s faithful heart and chose him to lead.
Consecrated King – two men & flame – Samuel sent for David from the pastures. He anointed David with holy oil in his family’s presence, and the Holy Spirit rested upon him.
